A new director is coming to the VFN: Ján Dudra
The General Teaching Hospital has a new director as of February 2, 2026. After the departure of Prof. MUDr. David Feltl, Assoc. MUDr. Ján Dudra, PhD., MPH, a physician and manager who comes to the position with many years of experience in hospital management and clinical practice, will take over the management of one of the largest and most important hospitals in the Czech Republic.
The new director is following on from the work of his predecessor, Prof. David Feltl, and right from the start he emphasizes that his first step will not be a series of rapid changes, but a thorough understanding of the hospital from the inside. "The VFN is an extremely complex organism. I want to spend the first few days getting to know the current state of the VFN in detail, which I know quite well. Only from this can good and sustainable decision-making emerge.. On the other hand, I cannot rule out personnel changes in the hospital management," says Ján Dudra on his first day in office.
He comes to Prague from the Mladá Boleslav Regional Hospital, where he worked as deputy director for health services. In his career so far, he has long been dedicated to the quality and safety of care, setting up efficient processes, and also to a sensible digitalization. According to him, technologies only make sense if they simplify the work of healthcare professionals and increase patient safety. At a time when the future organization of specialized care in Prague is being discussed, he emphasizes continuity above all. "The patient must be confident that the care is working today and will continue to work tomorrow. Any major changes must be gradual, thoughtful, and well communicated internally and externally.,” he adds.
