Workplace characteristics

The institute is a comprehensive and consular workplace in the field of forensic medicine, providing autopsy examinations using special immunohistochemistry methods. The Institute of Forensic Medicine covers assessment activities for bodies active in criminal proceedings in the capital city. of Prague and in the Central Bohemian Region. In addition to basic pathomorphological diagnostics, the institute is focused on research of vital reaction of injuries, forensic neuropathology, cardiovascular diseases and diagnostics of pathomorphological changes in persons addicted to narcotic and psychotropic substances. New methods for immunohistochemical examinations are being used on an ongoing basis. The staff of the institute performs 1,200 autopsies of people who die by sudden and violent deaths a year.
