The threat of obesity, cholesterol and diabetes is increasing
More than half of the people in the Czech Republic are currently overweight. The number of Czechs with high blood pressure and cholesterol levels is also increasing, which has an impact on a significant increase in morbidity and mortality. The III. Internal Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and the General Hospital, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, offers patients comprehensive treatment - new treatment methods, unique specialized centers and specialized care for XXL patients. It is the only center for rare diseases in endocrinology in the Czech Republic and is actively involved in international scientific research projects.

80-year tradition of internal care and primacy in endocrinology
The III. Internal Medicine Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the General Hospital is one of the largest internal medicine clinics in the Czech Republic - the total bed capacity of the clinic is 101 beds, 87 standard and 14 intensive. From the beginning, it has emphasized endocrinology and is the only European center for rare diseases in endocrinology in the Czech Republic, the so-called Endo-ERN. This expert workplace cares for patients with rare endocrinopathies, especially diseases of the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, but also rare thyroid and bone diseases. The clinic also specializes in diabetology, obesitology and cardiology and is a national reference center for the diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia. The workplace also includes an echocardiography laboratory, a sonography laboratory, a laboratory for endocrinology and metabolism, an osteocenter, a preventive cardiology center and a center for the treatment of tobacco addiction.
