Training on receiving an Ebola patient at the VFN!

An internal exercise simulating the admission of a patient suspected of having a highly contagious disease was successfully tested by the General University Hospital in Prague (VFN). The emergency scenario involved the arrival of a patient with symptoms of a highly contagious disease, including vomiting blood, at the outpatient clinic of the Joint Admissions Unit of the VFN (SPIN). Based on the patient's travel history, the doctor suspected Ebola and immediately contacted the Hygiene Station of the Capital City of Prague, which activated the intervention of the Integrated Rescue System (IZS), ordered the isolation of the patient and the closure of the workplace.

"The aim of these exercises is to test not only the preparedness of the personnel, but also the functionality of the crisis plans, the ability to communicate between the individual units and make decisions under pressure. It was confirmed that the SPIN team and the IZS units can cooperate very professionally in an emergency situation," added Mgr. Libor Strkáč, head of the Security and Crisis Preparedness Department of the General Hospital.

We would like to thank the Security and Crisis Preparedness Department of the General Hospital, SPIN employees and all IZS units for the coordination and implementation of the event.
