Early detection of glaucoma protects against blindness

World Glaucoma Week (March 8-14) draws attention to a disease that, if not detected and treated in time, leads to irreversible blindness! Glaucoma causes the gradual death of the optic nerve and manifests itself with increased intraocular pressure. This can be easily detected by examination.

The preventive event for the public will take place at the VFN on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the general outpatient clinic of the VFN Eye Clinic (building A6 A, ground floor). It is not necessary to book in advance.

Why come?

  • Increased intraocular pressure is a signal that you may be at risk of irreversible vision damage!
  • The examination should mainly be done by people over 40 years of age, as well as people with a genetic disposition (occurrence of glaucoma in the family), patients with diabetes are an at-risk group. Unfortunately, glaucoma does not avoid even younger people!
  • If detected early, the progression of the disease can be slowed down or stopped with eye drops to reduce intraocular pressure.
  • It is important to know that you usually do not notice the onset of this eye disease yourself, you do not notice small gaps in the visual field and deterioration of peripheral vision.
