"Active Shooter" exercise at the VFN!

A simulation of a shooter attack inside the hospital tested the VFN's preparedness for unexpected situations!
A total of 15 injured people after a shooting at one of the clinics was the starting situation for the "Active Shooter" exercise at the VFN. Our hospital tested the functionality of the trauma plan in cooperation with the Rapid Deployment Unit of the Police of the Czech Republic. Activation of the trauma plan means the immediate start of all activities necessary to ensure emergency care when receiving a larger number of patients. The simulation itself included intervention against the attacker, activation of the trauma plan, transport to the triage point and triage, distribution and treatment of the injured. Dozens of healthcare professionals, doctors, paramedics and other employees from the VFN and students from the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University participated in the exercise.
We would like to thank the Security and Crisis Preparedness Department of the General Hospital and the 1st Surgical Clinic of the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University and the General Hospital for the coordination and implementation of the event.
