Preventive mammography examination from July 1st without a request form? Yes, but only in exceptional cases!
Screening centers, including MAMOKARLÁK VFN Prague, continue to prefer a request from a general practitioner or gynecologist. A request from the attending physician guarantees that the doctor will learn the results from the screening center directly and immediately and does not have to wait for the patient to bring them to him. Time can be crucial!
Visiting a screening center without a request form is therefore only possible in exceptional and justified cases. For example, if the patient does not have a doctor or the doctor does not want to issue her a request form, then the doctor at the screening center can now prepare the request form directly.
The aim of these measures is to simplify and speed up the entire process of screening and diagnosing breast disease in difficult situations, and not to skip regular visits to a gynecologist or practitioner! The change only applies to preventive screening over 45 years of age, while maintaining a two-year visit interval! Diagnostic mammography is still only available on request.
Czech breast cancer screening is one of the most successful programs and we are among the top six EU countries. Participation in the program is relatively high, over 60 percent in a two-year interval, and even over 70 percent in a three-year interval.
