Art in the waiting room of the hemato-oncology department of the VFN

The waiting room of the hemato-oncology outpatient clinic at the Faculty Polyclinic of the VFN is now decorated with paintings by multimedia artist and volunteer Anna Kazantseva.
Anna Kazantseva (*1994) is based in Prague and works with various media in her work – from painting to installations to performances. She is dedicated to experimental approaches, connects art with digital tools and also collaborates with artificial intelligence. In 2018–2024, she studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) and participated in a number of exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Since 2024, she has also been a volunteer of the Pavel Novotný Foundation.
"I perceive the hemato-oncology environment with great respect for the patients and medical staff who go through challenging situations there every day. The opportunity to place my paintings in this space therefore had a primarily human dimension for me. I believe that art can make the hospital environment more pleasant, at least for a moment, and bring a sense of peace, hope, or a brief pause," says the author.
The exhibited series was created as a spontaneous improvisation inspired by the philosophical concept of "body without organs" (Deleuze–Guattari). The paintings work with a free flow of energy, colors and structures, which gradually compose into changing, organic forms. An important role is played by the intuitive process of painting and openness to interpretation, so each viewer can find their own meaning in them.

We thank Anna Kazantseva for her willingness to share her art with patients and medical staff and thus contribute to a more pleasant environment in our clinic.
