We deal with the treatment of all corneal diseases, especially ketaratoconus, corneal dystrophies, dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis, cornea and sclera. We treat patients with corneal manifestations resulting from a number of general diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Thanks to the close cooperation with the rheumatology institute, a comprehensive treatment covering the primary cause is ensured. We also deal with autoimmune conjunctivitis (such as ocular scarring pemphigoid) and have immunosuppressive therapy.
We also transplant the amniotic membrane, which is used primarily to improve corneal healing and reinforcement in the case of thinning or perforation (this technique is the only one in the Czech Republic). We deal with the issue of recurrent pterygias by conjunctival autotransplantation, which is very effective in these cases. In patients with lower grade keratoconus, we perform the Collagen Cross Linking (CXL) method to stop the progression of the disease in the vast majority of people affected. We work closely with the center applying hard and soft contact lenses, which are mainly used in the treatment of keratoconus and irregular astigmatism. We also do research on hereditary corneal diseases, and publish our findings in this area in the best international eye magazines.
