Radiodiagnostic Clinic

Angiographic Department

The Angiographic Department of the Radiodiagnostic Clinic is part of the Complex Cardiovascular Center and the Center for Vascular Access of the General University Hospital in Prague. The department is accredited for the fields of Interventional Radiology and Vascular Intervention Radiology. The catheter hall is equipped with the Toshiba Infinix angiographic line and the Toshiba Viamo SSA-640A / E1 sonographic instrument. We provide vascular (vascular) diagnostic and miniinvasive treatments on the arteries and veins of the upper and lower extremities, abdomen and retroperitoneum, which include:

  • diagnostic imaging of whole blood vessels
  • diagnostic sampling of blood samples from adrenal veins and petroleum rafts,
  • peripheral vascular balloon angioplasty (balloon catheter expansion of narrowed vessel)
  • introducing stents and stentgrafts into peripheral blood vessels
  • introducing caval filters (lower hollow vein filter to prevent pulmonary embolism)
  • benign tumors embolization (tumor-inducing blood vessel closure, eg uterine embolism)
  • cancer embolism (chemoembolization - a combination of chemotherapy and vascular closure)
  • prostate embolism for benign hyperplasia
  • bariatric stomach embolism (alternative obesity treatment)
  • introducing arterial ports (approach to administering chemotherapy directly to the artery nourishing the tumor).

The department specializes mainly in the treatment of vascular access for hemodialysis and oncological interventions. In addition to conventional angiography performed with iodine contrast medium, we also use carbon dioxide angiography and perform dialysis treatment under sonographic control without the use of contrast media. In addition to the planned procedures, we also perform procedures in acute conditions, such as acute ischemia or bleeding. We examine and treat about one thousand patients a year.
